UAW LOCALS 122 RETIREE’S CHAPTER

EETING MINUTES June 13, 2025

 

Retiree Chairman Joseph Guarino called the meeting to order on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The pledge of allegiance was recited, followed by a moment of silence in recognition of recently deceased retiree members.

The Chairman requested a motion to accept the March 14, 2025, meeting minutes as presented. A motion was made and seconded, and the meeting minutes were approved.

Secretary Ellen Douglas was absent due to illness. The UAW Local 122 retirees acknowledged her absence and expressed wishes for her recovery.
The UAW Local 122 Chapter meeting held on March 14, 2025, addressed updates on by-laws, meal service modifications, and healthcare information for retirees.

OLD BUSINESS DISCUSSION:
The by-laws have been posted on the UAW122 website: https://uawlocal122.com/uaw-local-122-by-lawsposting.
A proposal was accepted to modify meal services at meetings, allowing coffee and donuts instead of full meals at two meetings annually. This change will be implemented starting January 2026, pending negotiation with Gambitta’s Party Center.

UAW Medical Benefits Trust Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) Benefit: Completed HRA claim forms may be submitted to WEX by mail,
email, or online. Questions were raised about lack of internet access and uncertainty regarding the submission process for medical and HRA forms.UAWTRUST@rhac.com, or online at UAWTrust.org.

Tom Scheutzow Financial Secretary Report.
A motion was made, seconded, and the financial report was accepted

Phil Schmiedl, Vice Chairman, Encouraged voter registration, participation in the upcoming Ohio Primary on September 9, 2025, and research on all names and measures on the ballot.

NEW BUSINESS:
UAW Medical Trust will present Healthcare updates for the year 2026 at the September 12, 2025, meeting.

A motion was made, seconded, and the following associate members cards were accepted for Margaret Nedzelski and Priscilla Yukich.

Chairman Joseph Guarino reported that the Black Lack invitation remains available. Interested retirees are invited to sign up to attend the Leadership meeting. Invitations typically arrive before the June meeting.

Special guests Richard Klaben, owner of Klaben Auto Group,
spoke on the importance of our retiree group and how much we inspired him. Casey Shaw, Salesperson for Klaben Auto Group. Richard and Casey also brought cars for the retirees to view.

Brother Tom Scheutzow did a presentation on the importance of the VCap Program and had cards available to contribute donations from members pension payments.
Upcoming Meeting and Adjournment: The next meeting is scheduled for September 12, 2025. The meeting concluded at noon, followed by lunch.
