UAW LOCALS 122 & 573 RETIREE’S CHAPTER
MEETING MINUTES June 03, 2022


Retiree Chairperson Joseph Guarino called the meeting to order on Friday, June 3, 2022, at 11:00 am.
The pledge of allegiance was recited followed by a moment of silence for the recently deceased retiree members.

Chairperson Joseph Guarino asked for a motion to accept March 11, 2022, meeting as written. A motion was made and second. The meeting minutes were accepted.
Chairperson Report: Chairperson & Financial Secretary spouses are now associated due paying members. Retiree dues support all the activities of the retired workers — programs and are now more necessary than ever before.

The UAW is proud to endorse Tim Ryan to represent Ohio in the U.S. Senate. As our next senator, Ohioans can trust Tim to continue to be a champion for workers across our state. Chairperson & Financial Secretary attended the UAW Region 2-B Retirees Council meeting held on April 24, 2022, in Fort Wayne, IN.  Larry Doyle’s UAW Region 2-B Retirees Council Secretary retirement was announced. He will be attending future retiree meetings.

Cap tickets are for sale. LU 122 & LU 573. LU 122 Retirees Chapter had three winners in the last 2020 CAP drawing.

A motion was made and second to purchase unsold CAP tickets any winnings will go to our funds.

Cannot integrate enough use of your Dental and Health Benefits.

Pat Morrow was introduced; he is the creator and maintains the UAW 122 Retirees Website.
Which has been recently updated.

At our next meeting September 9, 2022, will have representatives from the UAW Medical Trust, and Health Care Providers presenting updates on 2023 Benefits.

Financial Secretary Report: Thomas Scheutzow thanked Chris Hoover LU 573 for the processing the
Financial information.

Also acknowledging a great job Pat Morrow has done on the UAW Retirees Website.

Kabel Dealership Salesmen stated that their dealership is honoring the FCA Car vouchers. 50/50 Raffle purchase: half is given to a ticket winner the other half is for donuts and printing meeting minutes.

On May 12, 2021, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan appointed Neil M. Barofsky of Jenner & Block LLP as the independent Monitor of the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW), pursuant to the Consent Decree entered by the United States and the UAW in United States v. International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America,No. 20-cv-13293 (E.D. Mich.). 

The UAW Monitor is independent of, and does not work for or represent, either of the parties to the Consent Decree.  The Monitor’s authority and duties are established by, and set forth in, the Consent Decree.

UAW Region 2B Ohio CAP Councils endorse Tim Ryan for U.S. Senate

As trade unionists, all of us – active and retired – have a responsibility to be politically active and work to elect politicians who will ensure that America meets the needs of all generations: a strong educational system for our young people, good-paying jobs for workers and a secure and dignified retirement for seniors.

In accordance with results of the UAW Referendum held in the fall of 2021, the International Officers of the UAW will be elected directly by members who will cast votes for nominated candidates. All UAW members in good standing as of October 31, 2022, are eligible to vote in the Election.To ensure that you receive a ballot package for the 2022 Election, please update your mailing and e-mail address.to have your vote counted in the Election, your mail-in ballot must be received by the final deadline of November 28, 2022. It is strongly encouraged that all return ballots be placed in return mail by November18, 2022, to ensure arrival by the deadline.
